Dr. Araba Otoo is a 2022 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Optometry and is currently doing a residency in the VA system. Her passion for global health and desire for optometry to own its role in public health is impressive. I've been fortunate to get to knew her and trust that my audience will take motivation from her stories and ambitions.
Some of the most interesting stories within the episode include her observations of family eye care while a child in Ghana, as well as the mentorship she received at the University of Illinois - Chicago by an OD/epidemiologist. Her drive to become an ophthalmologist met unexpected turns and her trip into optometry is compelling.
